FG Declares Tuesday Public Holiday to Celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary

The Federal Government (FG) has announced Tuesday, October 1, 2024 as a public holiday to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the announcement on behalf of the FG in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani on Friday.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion, and commended hardworking Nigerians, stating that their sacrifices will not be in vain.

He reiterated the need for Nigerians to reflect on the labour of “our heroes past” – and encouraged them to be inspired for the tasks ahead, stressing that “a Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite.”

He also urged the citizens to continue to be steadfast in nation building.
